David Tilby - Biography
David Tilby is in private practice as a professional quantity surveyor. He has over 35 years experience in the building industry, both in Australia and overseas. He was a former director (1983 – 2000) of the international quantity surveying firm of Rider Hunt and was responsible for setting up their operations in Papua New Guinea, Guam, Hawaii, and the Philippines.
Tilby is regarded as one of the most experienced QS professional practicing in Australia today. His comprehensive experience extends from small refurbishment jobs to multi-million dollar projects such as the $230 million Carindale Regional Shopping Center in Queensland for the National Australia Bank Limited.
Clients that he has done work for include: Property Trust – NAB, Woolworths, Longhurst Holdings, QIC, Mirvac, Triple C, YU Feng, Intro International, Kern Corporation, Yung Chon Pty Ld, European Union Development Fund, Devine Limited, MLC, Australian Federal Government, Cairns Airport Authority, Linkon, Aqua Del Rey, Kumagai Gumi, Daikyo, Stocklands, Sabina Group, and overseas clients such as Chongqing Government (China), Subic Bay Waterfront Development Corporation (Philippines), M Grand Hotel (Bangkok), Kumagai Gumi (Pacific Region), University of Guam (Guam), and Curtain Bros. (Port Moresby).
Type of projects assessed by him include: regional shopping centers, hyperdomes, superstores, retail shops, resorts, residential apartments, new townships, marinas, hotels, office buildings, subdivisions, civil works, roads, bridges, services, infrastructures, industrial estates, restaurants, warehouses, golf courses, homemakers centers, sporting facilities, airports, and special themed attractions.
In February 2006, David was appointed a Non-Executive Director to Sabina Corporation Limited and in April 2008, he joined G8 Consultants Pty Ltd as an Executive Director. He is retained by G8 Management Pty Ltd to provide QS services to the corporate trustee, Tasmania Development Corporation Pty Ltd, on behalf of various property trusts in Tasmania.
